What is the difference between the women who tell themselves they are too busy and don’t have enough time so don’t do what needs to be done to lose weight, and the women who are too busy and don’t have a lot of time but make the changes in losing weight? The ones making the changes have a strong WHY of what they are wanting for their life. With that strong WHY they have then committed to the decision that they are going to do whatever it takes to get them to their goal of losing weight.

The #1 killer is excuses and with those excuses you justify everything away. These excuses that are coming up are the thoughts that you are thinking. When you think them they will only lead you to talk yourself right out of doing what needs to be done. This prevents you from seeing that weight loss begins with following through on your meal plan or even just making one small change.

That thinking is your brain giving you all the excuses as to why you don’t have time and why you can’t do what you need to do, which only sabotages your weight loss. Think about saying to yourself, “I’m too busy” or “I don’t have enough time”. If you are putting all your energy focusing on that thought you will not be putting the energy and focus on what you do want.

I have a group coaching program where I sought out and interviewed the ladies before they joined the group. Each one has told me how they were frustrated and so ready to end the struggle with food and their weight. They were ready to do this! But guess what, out of that group of women there were many of them that didn’t put in the work needed to make changes. They were too busy.

One big thing that I have all the ladies doing is Journaling. Just writing down whatever it is they are eating. I am not even asking them to make any changes to their eating at this time. Many of them are not journaling because they are “too busy and don’t have enough time to do it”. This is an example of excuses because it really only takes a few minutes while you are sitting there eating to put it into your phone or in your notebook. The excuses of no time and too busy overrode why they wanted to lose weight. The reason or their WHY they wanted to lose weight in the first place was not enough to beat out the excuses.

Think about choosing between, “I have no time” and, “it will only take a few minutes”. Or thinking “I have no time”, to ”doing this will get me in my skinny jeans”. Those initial thoughts might have you see the excuse you are using will not get you losing weight.

You have to know what excuses you are thinking or saying to yourself and be totally honest with yourself, because you can’t change what you don’t acknowledge. I used to use the excuse of, I have no time and yes, I was super busy so I had to make the conscious decision that if I wanted to lose the 100 pounds, I had to make the time, no more excuses. When I was brutally honest with myself, I did have the time, it was my thoughts that were trying to convince me I had no time. There was time in the evenings where I could journal and food prep, instead of sitting on the couch watching TV. Or when I was driving the kids to all their sports activities, I could sit in the stands and pull out my journal and write down my food. Are you willing and committed to making the time because if you are not, you will continue to struggle with your weight?
